We were really looking forward to trying this after seeing Esther Choi on "Heat Eaters." We were not disappointed. We shared the Bibimbap and K-Town Fries. They were both very tasty separately and then even better mixed together. The fries could have used a bit more salt, The sauce that came on the side was delicious. Everything also arrived very quickly. The only reason this isn't a 5 star review is there was no where to sit. We had to wander around Chelsea Market to hunt down a seat which was not easy. There is space at the counter for some stools.

Food is great. Fast service and authentic flavor korean . Pretty cool ambiance for to go and quick meal

Went into the Chelsea Market due to their plethora of selections for food. After looking at all my options, I decided to try out Mokbar and was glad I did. I didn't know what to order at first, but I like bulgogi, so I went for that. I wasn't sure if I should get the rice or noodles with it, but it was suggested that I go for the rice, since it was my first time trying the dish. Therefore, I ordered their Bulgogi bowl w/rice and would have asked for seconds if I could. It was soooo good! They didn't really have a lot of beverage options, so I got that elsewhere, but good stuff. I would love to go back and try something else off of their menu. For the bulgogi bowl to be as good as it was, I'm sure I won't be disappointed.

Made popular by Tv chef Esther Choi, Mokbar is her creation inspired by her Korean roots and family. This Mokbar is located in the popular Chelsea Market and happens to be right across from the also very popular Los Tacos No.1! So this corner of the building was almost shoulder to shoulder when we were there. This isn't a sit down restaurant but rather more of a food stall. There's no "kitchen" in the back so you can watch as they prepare your food. Afterwards good luck finding a place to sit and eat. You may have to settle for standing and eating. We were lucky to find a table outside. Their menu is simple with the basics and then some. There's hocakes, dumplings, korean fried chicken, edamame, buns for appetizers. They have bowls of bulgogi, curry chicken katsu, bibimbap and tuna poke. Of course you have your nooodle bowls: Classic ramen noodles, kimchi, chicken, vegan miso or army "budae" stew. The line to order wasn't nearly as long as Los Tacos nearby, but it seemed the wait was longer. The order of 10 pork dumplings was on par. It was nicely cooked and tasted good. I tried their classic ramen noodle bowl with an extra poached egg. The broth was spot on. The veggies and bean sprouts were fresh with beautiful egg noodles. Yom Yom Yom. Prices are exorbitant, but this is New York City and Chelsea Market. Welcome to NYC.

My boyfriend wanted to check this place out after hearing about Esther Choi. The classic ramen was definitely a nice hearty meal. The classic features a gochujang pork broth which was pretty flavorful with tender braised pork as well as other vegetables and mushrooms. I loved how the noodles were al dente and remained that way despite being soaked in broth and as a take out. We added kimchi to ours and it was a nice level of tangy/sour. Taken together I liked the ratio of soup to ramen to toppings. Food came out quick and there were some standing bar areas to eat at! Note that the soup comes separately and youll have to "assemble" your ramen. If you're in Chelsea market, would definitely recommend!
